I have been drawing since childhood. Manga fascinated me early on, especially Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump and Eiichiro Oda's One Piece. Back then, my dream job was to become a comic artist.

For me, painting is something physical, intuitive and free. When I paint, I feel connected to my childlike self, the same kid who once couldn't stop drawing.

My work draws on Hiroshi Nagai's city scenes and Henry Taylor's way of painting people. I often paint to jazz, rock or hip-hop, letting music, colour and rhythm shape the process.

I work mainly with acrylic paint and silkscreen printing. Inspired by David Hockney, I also use new media such as the iPad, and I keep experimenting beyond all of these. I would rather try something out than overthink it. Books, everyday life and the things I encounter feed into my visual language.

A child doesn't try to make art. A child simply looks, and is delighted by what it sees. I try to paint from that place. Curious. Open. Not taking it too seriously.
